Why does dyed hair get lighter when it's washed?

Normally I have medium brown hair and I dyed it ash blonde a few days ago, but I barely see any results. My friends have told me the more I wash it the lighter it will get.. how long does it take and why does it happen?

Shampoo has ingredeints that actually strip natural oils, color, and nutreints that your hair needs, also with suppling them with it. Some hair stylist say that it's not even good to dye your hair because it damages it.

i would suggest getting a good shampoo that is made to not strip the dye.

avoid washing your with "head and shoulders" because it washes hair dye faster than any other shampoo.also try skipping washing your hair for a day it will keep your hair color longer.and dont wash your hair with really hot water because it also washes out your hair out and it makes it fall out.i dyed my hair medium ash blond also and it washed out after a few days it ended up as an ugly blond color so if you have medium brown hair ash blond is not a great color.
