I have it and I absolutely love it! My hair is medium thick and wavy and it works. but you have to clip your hair up on top of your head and do it in three layers, but it only takes about 10 minutes. definitely one the best cheap one.

your secret is hair products and a good hair drier which also blows water (steam),after each shower with good shampoo and conditionare leave your hair for 10 mins then blow it in low teprature and blowe steam at the tips!it might sound kind of gayish but it will work!

I figure since I STILL HAVE my hair (with very little gray), contemplating this topic in another 10 years may not be an option. The question I have is whether it would be considered unprofessional (as a licensed, practicing physician) if I were to proceed with this? In other words, if you were a patient and you noticed your doctor added blonde highlights to his hair, would this affect your opinion of him?

I don't know whether this info is useful or not, but I have a medium white complexion (and tan pretty regularly), green/hazel eyes, dark brown/black eyebrows and an muscular build... Not really sure whether this is the right forum to post this question, but any replies would be very much appreciated.

I'd say if you consult with and use a skilled stylist (and communicate to them very clearly what you want) you should be able to get highlights subtle enough to still be professional but also ones that would give you the look you're going for. Subtlety is the key!!

If it's well done I see no reason why not (apart from the fact that colour treatments aren't great for your hair). If it's badly done it could be very bad news: think about how you judge guys you see who have bad hair colour treatments (and be honest with yourself). In your role you need to be credible when you talk to patients and anything which makes them feel less confident about dealing with you could have knock on consequences you might rather avoid. I guess the trick is to find a decent stylist who you trust and maybe to start gently at first.

use revlon or herbal essences to dye/highlight your hair. they work awesome! revlon is really cheap but it works just like the other expensive brands. herbal essences leaves your hait really shiny and really soft. if you use them correctly, you shouldnt get any color on your scalp. even if you do, it'll come out in about 2 -4 washes.

You bleached out some of your hair. Your options are:

1. Ignore it, as it grows it will come in your normal color and you can just cut off the bleached lengths.

Yes they are permanent because natural pigment has been stripped from your hair, washing will do nothing. If you want to get rid of them you will need to have your hair coloured back to it's natural base colour.

you can try rinsing you hair with vinegar water, half vinegar and half water, it works as a clarifier, and will get out all the exrta junk in your hair. Wouldn't hurt to try, I use it after I get out of the pool to get out the chlorine, which turns blonde hair greenish, and it works for me.

I would go with professional products from a beautician supply store. I highly recommend L'oreor Super Blue bleaching kit. As you already have a blonde shade , you can use a low level developer (less damaging, a 40 lift developer should do just fine for you) and be sure to add at least one tube of RGC (red gold corrector) to insure that all traces of red tones will be eliminated and you will have that translucent/platinum look you desire.

The cost of all the supplies and "ingredients" will be around $25, but will give you the same results as a salon. In a salon you are paying mostly for the hairdressers salary, their education, the rent on the salon space, etc. Save a bundle and do it at home.

Try this colour on a piece of hair behind the ear first. Should this result in the desired shade then you have your colour.

ok, A few days ago I went and got a dye job on my medium length hair. I wanted a light brown and got a vary dark brown that I cannot stand. What color dye from the drugstore would I use to add some reddish/golden tones into it? Any brands that are favorites? I feel like nothing will cover this dark of a hair color!

Whoa...that's not gonna work. You CANNOT lighten colored hair with another color. Example: say you have blonde hair and you dye it black...two months later you decide that you want it red so you put red color on your hair...what will happen is the regrowth (roots) will turn red and the rest will stay black. Once hair has been dyed a darker color it can ONLY be lightened by using hair bleach (highlighting powder mixed with a high-level developer). If you had naturally dark hair then you COULD lighten it with dye, but dye CANNOT lighten dye.

I would suggest waiting about a week or two to see if it lightens up on it's own (most likely it will). If it doesn't then go back to the salon and explain the situation. Very small highlights all-over will give it a lighter appearance. You might also want to try a Malibu Treatment. It will pull out any excess dye that is sitting on your hair and probably lighten you up a shade or two (this is safer than highlights because it does not contain any chemicals).

The most extravagant and sexy masquerade ball hair I have ever seen was Kristin Dunst in Marie Antoinette...She has a partial updo, but the portion that is pulled up is extremely high on her head..I don't think you'd need to get that high, (or even if you could!) but the style itself is fantastic of the time period that these balls took place.

Well I hate to say it, but if you want to save your hair and have it in semi decent condition, call a stylist.

BUT what I would recommend is to leave your hair for 24 hours. Then go get a boxed dye that is SEMI PERM. A darker ASH colour.

You should know that if you have ANY red tint in your hair that it will turn orange if your at the mercy of a boxed blonde dye.

Any semi-permanant box brand will work really. Depending on what box you buy it could last between 10-12 shampoos or 12 -24 shapoos (things like that). Although if you are a blonde and going to brunette, I don't think the semi-permanant will completely wash out ever. But it will still get light enough where you can get back to your natural color without damaging it too much.

With thick hair the result will always have more volume and/or frizz than you expect unless you weigh it down with lots of product. You should definitely NOT do it yourself, go to a salon and tell the hairstylist EXACTLY what you want. The larger the rollers, the looser the curl. You also need to do the float test to make sure that your hair can handle a perm. If your hair floats it's good! If your hair sinks, you need to use some good conditioners until your hair is healthy again.

oooh, i have done this more than once. i have blonde hair too. i had to literally buy a color remover for my hair. i got one from wal-mart, then from sally beauty supply. try to find a beauty supply store and buy the remover, but then you will have to replace it with some color (unless you like the no color look), so go buy whatever color you like to recolor your hair. good luck and happy soon to be birthday.

I find these extra light colourants not effective on darker hair. Watch what you are doing it could turn your hair an orangy colour.

Best to lighten it first then use a colourant.

I have used it on brown hair --it is very good as you can see your hair getting lighter after 10 minutes. However you must make sure you get it on evenly as you could end up with some slightly gingery bits.

If you use it too often it does burn and damage your hair as do all bleach formula's.

If you do use it and you have some ginger or brown still showing just get another one and do the bits required after a day or two unless it's too noticeable then do it again straight away as a little extra on the missed bits won't hurt.

But, for the wavy effect, I'd recommend blowing it dry using a circular brush, curling it with a curling iron, and then shaking out the curls for loose waves. Use a bit of hairspray to get it to hold, and use some after-style shine-spray to get it to look smoother and shiny.

I am a Black woman and have "medium" type hair (think Kelis in "Milkshake" video). I want to wear it natural (it is too hot and humid for straightening!). My usual routine is to wash, heavily condition, then towel dry and add Pantene Oil Moisturizer and a little leave in conditioner. This works for about 1/2 the day then by the end of the day it looks dry and not too cute....what can I use to keep it shiny, and moist all day? It sounds like it would be okay. Just remember the color on the box is done after the model's hair has been bleached to a white. Then the auburn is applied. So the color on the box will probably be lighter than your results
